S.M.A.R.T. Goals

Im taking a course on blogging that has challenged me to make three goals. I remembered this acronym S.M.A.R.T. and thought it would be helpful for this exercise. It was also suggested to write a blog about these goals, so here I go!

SMART Goals chart

Smart is an acronym outline for making goals. It stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Timely.

Let’s start with Specific.

Specific by definition means clearly defined or identified. A specific goal for me is to post twice weekly, Tuesday and then again Friday. On the Friday post I would like to have a recurrent theme, something like “Freedom Friday”. This would give ideas on shaking the stress of the past week in prep for the weekend. Or planning some fun weekend times. It could even be as simple as taking a nap Saturday afternoon. Or could be making a meal plan for the next week and getting the prep done during the weekend so the week day meals are less stressful. It’s an open book on ideas to post.

I think this will evolve but it’s good a start.

Next is Measurable.

That is easier as I can measure this goal of two posts a week by just looking back to check the posts.

Achievable follows.

If I follow my own advice and plan ahead I should have posts that are ready to go so I’m not scrambling on the Tuesday and Friday due dates. Plus I’ve made these goals until October 1, 2021 which makes three months doable.

Realistic.

Realistic blends in with achievable in my book. I want to set myself up for success so I am setting realistic and achievable goals. Two posts a week until October 1. Three months to get into the swing of things.

Timely.

Timely is also defined by setting an end date as October 1, 2021

The topics will be focused on gardening as it is summer here, then some soul restore and cooking. The garden produces so much these days I have to find a way to get creative with meals. Yet I do still want and need to restore. We all do. I want to make sure there is intentionality in carving out time for things that build in and not deplete.

It will have a learning curve, but I’m looking forward to the journey and the learning that will come.

The final goal is to attain 20 followers through these next 3 months. Again, seems attainable. Thanks for joining in. Oh and by the way, I guess this is the Tuesday post.
